Fractal Explorer: Deep Zoom in Your Browser
We are thrilled to release Fractal Explorer, a new high-performance WebGL renderer that brings the infinite complexity of the Mandelbrot and Julia sets directly to your browser.
Intuitive Navigation
We've ditched the clunky "click-to-center" interface found in older fractal tools. Fractal Explorer feels as responsive as a modern map application:
- Scroll to Zoom: Simply roll your mouse wheel to fly seamlessly in and out of the fractal.
- Click: Zoom in by a factor of ten. Shift-click to zoom out.
- Drag to Pan: Click and hold anywhere on the canvas to move the view. No rendering lag, just smooth exploration.
Precision Control
Getting the perfect render requires subtle adjustments. We've designed the UI to support both rapid changes and microscopic fine-tuning.
Pro Tip: All sliders are mapped to your keyboard. Click a slider to select it, then use your Left and Right Arrow Keys to adjust the value. This changes the value much slower than dragging the mouse, allowing you to dial in the exact lighting angle or color frequency you need. Combine the arrows with Shift to change the value 10× faster.
Studio-Grade Visuals
This isn't just about raw math; it's about creating art.
- 3D Lighting: Turn flat geometry into mountain ranges or metallic surfaces with the "Height" and "Light Angle" controls.
- Julia Morphing: Toggle "Show Julia Set" to see the corresponding Julia shape for your current location. Use the "Morph Angle" to spin the shape while preserving its unique structure.
- Cinematic Quality: We use 4× RGSS (Rotated Grid Super Sampling) anti-aliasing to ensure every line is crisp, eliminating the "stair-step" edges common in real-time graphics.
